Watch time

Watch time is cumulative minutes an audience spent in a video. Video platforms distribute toward content that holds attention, making watch time the supply-side currency of reach. For brands, it separates a two-second scroll-past 'view' from genuine consumption — integrations judged on views alone overpay for shallow attention.

Worked example

A 10-minute video with 5,000 views at 4 minutes average delivers 20,000 watched minutes — half the attention of the runtime, honestly measured.
