Exclusivity

Exclusivity is the creator agreeing not to promote competing brands for a defined period. It costs her real category income, so it carries a real fee scaled by how broad the category is and how long it runs. Well-drafted clauses name the category, list example competitors and set an end date; vague or indefinite exclusivity is a clause to refuse.

Worked example

Six months of exclusivity across 'home fitness equipment', with three named competitors, priced as a separate line above the content fee.
