Usage rights
Usage rights define where, how and for how long a brand may reuse creator content beyond the original organic post. Organic-only is the base case; paid ads, web, retail and email are each extensions with real value. Duration matters as much as channel: three months of ad usage and perpetual usage are different purchases entirely. Unpriced 'all media in perpetuity' clauses are the most common contract trap on both sides.
Worked example
A contract grants organic posting plus paid social usage for 90 days — the brand's later request to keep running the ad becomes a renewal negotiation, as designed.
